LCLS: CAP Manual: Physical Processing

DVDs

NOTE: Sometimes a DVD may be packaged in an oddly-shaped case or arrive with a damaged case. When this occurs, retrieve a new case from the Storage Area.

Labels:

Spine labels     The spine label should be placed on the paper insert of the DVD case so that it appears on the spine of the case, 1/8th inch from the bottom.

Dots                 The colored dot that indicates Owning Library should be placed over the spine label so that the lower edge of the dot matches up with the lower edge of the label.

Rating stickers  A sticker indicating the DVD’s MPAA rating should be placed in the lower right-hand corner on the front cover. Take care not to conceal any important information on the cover.  The rating can be determined by looking at the back cover of the case or on the DVD itself.  If a DVD is not rated, it receives no sticker.

Title labels         The Title label should be placed in the upper right-hand corner on the inside of the front cover of the case.

Owning library  Each DVD should have the library identification and copy number printed on each disc with black permanent marker.

Security            Albright DVDs get the same security that is used on music CDs.  These

should be placed directly on the front of the disc taking care that the metal

security strip does not cover any part of the barcode and that the strip goes

on smoothly with no bubbles.   If the disc is double-sided, no security is placed on the disc. Instead, slide out the front

cover and attach a spine security tag to the spine of the DVD case.
