CAP Manual:
Talking Books (Cassette)
Repackaging:
Cassette talking books may come already packaged in a plastic case. However, there will frequently be talking books packaged in cardboard cases. These need to be repackaged before proceeding with the remainder of processing. This is done by selecting a plastic case that has the closest number of slots to the number of cassettes in the set and cutting or copying the existing packaging to create a cover for the case.
Labels:
Spine labels The spine label should be placed on the paper insert of the talking book case, so that it appears on the spine of the case, 1/8th inch from the bottom.
Dots The colored dot indicating the owning library should be placed over the spine label so that the lower edge of the dot matches up with the lower edge of the label.
Special Stickers
For talking books books designated as MYS, SPANISH, SCI/FI, WEST, or YOUNG ADULT (these will be in the first part of the call number), there are special stickers that go on the spine directly above the spine label. Check the call number to see if the talking book needs one of these stickers.
If the call number specifies more than one special sticker, place the stickers on the spine of the talking book according to their order on the Spine Label.

Title labels The title label should be placed on the inside cover of the talking book case in the upper right-hand corner. If it is in a cassette case and there is no room for the title label inside the case, place the title label in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover.
