COPY ADDING GUIDELINES

Example:

Donna,

I hate to bother you again, but I have another book not my own that is showing routing to our shelves. The book is The Carousel by Belva Plain bar code# 50686010131923.

                                Thanks,

                                Jeanie Sluck

                               Taylor Library

Look at the screen print below:

A Taylor copy (50692) was apparently added by mistake to the Scranton (50686) copies.  At that point the Taylor copy should have been either removed from the Scranton call number, or transferred to the Taylor call number.   Instead the library was edited and all the copies that really were Scranton copies became Taylor copies.  This is a serious mistake if left uncorrected.

This is how the listing should look when the correct copies are attached to the correct library call numbers.

When adding copies to an existing record, always display the volumes/copies to make sure that the new copy is where it should be.   If it isn’t right, remove the new copy and re-add it correctly.  If you can’t remove it or don’t know how to fix the problem, please ask for help.
